This chapter gives us more examples of differences between Western-style and East Asian-style of thinking. I partly agree with Nisbitt's statements and partly don't. He says that Asians' goal for selves in society is not so much to establish superiority of uniqueness, but to achieve harmony within a network of relationships. This is changing in 2010. I think it's true that Asians( all I know is about Japaneses though ) are looking for coexistence in the society, but being superior and unique are very important too. I heard that nowadays, Companies hire people with more talents and original ways of thinking.
By the way, I went to see J[Joker] performed by Smooth Steppers tonight!
it was sooooo cool!
I want to cheer my friends on the stage, so someone please take part in Smooth Steppers ^^
In the west hiring creatively talented people first is normal, in Japan is would be hiring Todai people first and they are the least creative as they excel at memory type stuff to get into Todai. BTW I hear you are going to Scotland - last year I gave a special lecture to those students going to Scotland - maybe we can arrange the same again. So if you need to know anything about Scotland let me know.
